Welcome!

We believe that every person in our community is valuable, and should live, work and play without fear of victimization.

The Crime Stoppers Association of Edmonton and Northern Alberta (CSAENA) was incorporated on February 2, 1983. "CSAENA is a charitable, not-for-profit organization funded by people like you."

Crime Stoppers relies on the financial support of the community to deliver its programs and services. The Association is governed by a volunteer board, administered by staff and service volunteers, and works in cooperation with the media, Edmonton Police Service, RCMP and the Camrose Police Service, and the public.

The Board pays out awards to individuals who provide tips to the Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) line or via the internet. Since its inception, $1,286,689.00 (May 2011) in awards has been approved by the Board.

Anonymity of the tipster is the foundation of the program. To ensure the anonymity of the tipster, they are given a code number. Once the "TIPS" information is evaluated, a police investigator is given the information to act upon. If the information is of value and results in an arrest, the seizure of narcotics or stolen property, or the solving of a criminal case, then the details of the crime are brought to the Awards Committee of the Board for an award decision.

The tipster calls back on the TIPS line, identifies him or herself by the code number and is advised to pick up his or her award. All awards are dispensed by a civilian company and no attempt is made to identify the tipster.
